This academic project challenged me to take a familiar brand and reimagine it into a completely new, user-facing experience that subverted its traditional identity.
I chose IKEA, a brand known for affordable, standardized furniture, and reimagined it as a service tailored to the individual rather than the masses.
The second phase of the project involved building a design system to serve as the foundation for an interactive prototype of this new service.
Following the branding guide, I designed a component library that reflected a luxury aesthetic while maintaining clean layouts and highly readable interfaces.
To align with the luxury positioning, I targeted the app toward interior designers—expert users familiar with professional tools. This allowed me to design advanced features and focus the product flow on delivering the best possible experience for a niche audience, rather than simplifying for mass-market use.
